Jackdaws:
Jackdaws cottage is the centremost cottage
of the Long Barn which was constructed Circa 1830 for the
Rendell family, and the upstairs of which was the venue for
the grass auctions in the years before World War II (Mr Pengelly,
then owner of Kingston and a wily businessman, alledgedly
served whisky to 'encourage' the bidders).
Walking through the cottage garden, which
becomes a riot of colour in the spring, with its' white
'wrought iron' furniture you enter via a stable door surrounded
by roses. The entrance lobby leads into the delightful
open plan sitting/dining room which features a carved bar
that borders the spacious well equipped kitchen. Completing
the accommodation is a charming master bedroom with large
sash window, four poster bed hung with a pretty chintz,
and a wash cupboard, a second bedroom and a bathroom with
large white basin and bath with gold taps and includes
an invigorating shower.
